# Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

AI triage works out of the box with Platform AI. Already have an API key? Plug it in — your provider, your rates, zero markup.

## How it works

1. **Paste your API key** — Anthropic key or any OpenAI-compatible gateway URL. Encrypted at rest.
2. **Non-destructive verification** — A test call validates credentials while your active config stays live.
3. **AI triage runs on your key** — Every new feedback is analyzed using your provider. Zero platform credits consumed.

## Features

- **Your choice** — Platform AI works out of the box. Prefer your own key? Switch anytime — both options, every plan.
- **Any provider** — Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure, or any OpenAI-compatible gateway endpoint.
- **Custom model** — Pick the exact model for triage — claude-sonnet-4-20250514, gpt-4o, or your fine-tuned variant.
- **Encrypted at rest** — API keys are encrypted before storage. Never logged, never exposed in the UI after save.
- **Non-destructive verification** — New credentials are tested in isolation. Your active config keeps working until the new one passes.
- **Every plan, including Free** — BYOK is not a premium gate. Available from day one on every plan.

## Setup

1. Go to **Project Settings > AI Triage**
2. Enable **"Use your own API key"**
3. Enter your API key and optionally a gateway URL and model
4. Save — verification runs automatically
